KIRIE, officially known as Chantier Kirie, was a prominent French yacht builder founded in Les Sables d'Olonne, France. The company traces its origins back to 1912, initially specializing in small wooden pleasure craft before diversifying into motorboats during the 1950s. Under the leadership of the Kirie family, the yard embraced innovation, moving to Château d’Olonne and pioneering new production techniques, including the use of polyester in the 1960s. In the late 1960s, they gained recognition for the 'Fifty' fishing-sailing boats. KIRIE's international reputation was cemented with the launch of the 'Feeling' line in the early 1980s, dedicated to comfortable and high-performance cruising yachts. Notable achievements include the Feeling 13.50 winning the Route du Rhum production boat category in 1986 and the Feeling 10.90 being voted 'Boat of the Year' in 1987. The yard produced several acclaimed models, including the Elite series (Elite 25, Elite 37, Elite 446) and a wide range of Feeling yachts (such as the Feeling 720, 960, 1090, 1350, and 446) known for their versatility and quality finish. KIRIE yachts—especially the Feeling range—are distinguished by their fast, seaworthy designs and unusually spacious, comfortable interiors. The yard also stood out for offering integral lifting keel options, making their boats suitable for shallow anchorages. In 2000, the company was acquired by Alliaura Marine, which continued production of Feeling yachts, later passing to Privilège Marine, and eventually the line’s ownership moved to Dufour. Following years of financial challenges, KIRIE ceased operations in the early 2000s; the brand itself became defunct, finalizing with bankruptcy in 2015. While new KIRIE/Feeling yachts are no longer produced, existing boats remain highly regarded for bluewater and coastal cruising. The shipyard's legacy is closely linked to the success and ongoing popularity of the Feeling range among sailors worldwide. Throughout its history, KIRIE specialized primarily in sailing yachts—particularly fast cruisers and high-quality production monohulls—rather than motor yachts or superyachts.
