Common questions about navigating and insuring in the tropics.
Can I stay in the Caribbean during the Hurricane Season?
Yes. While many insurers exclude the zone from June 1st to Nov 30th, we negotiate specific ‘Named Windstorm’ endorsements allowing you to stay, provided you comply with a prepared Hurricane Plan.
It is a mandatory document declaring where the yacht will be moored or hauled out in case of a Named Storm warning. It must be approved by the underwriters before the season starts.
Yes, most of our negotiated policies cover 50% to 100% of the haul-out costs in the event of a Named Storm warning, to incentivize safety over risk-taking.
Theft is covered, but specific warranties often apply (e.g., tender must be locked at night, vessel cannot be left unmanned at anchor for more than 24h). We clarify these limits before you sail.
