The DUFOUR company is a major French player in the construction of small and medium-sized yachts. In 1964, the engineer and navigator Michel Dufour founded the Dufour shipyard in his hometown, La Rochelle. The Dufour shipyard has a strong local footprint and represents one of the largest employers in the region. With its production capacity of 18,000 m² and its 420 full-time employees, Dufour is one of the most important shipyards in France. All sailboats are imagined, designed and produced in La Rochelle, at the company's head office, with nearly 400 sail and motor boats manufactured per year. Its activity exploded with the launch of the Arpège model, which revolutionized the habitable sailboat and led to the creation of several new workshops. Present on all fronts, it extended its sales network for exports throughout Europe and created subsidiaries in Italy and the United States, which earned it the Oscar for Export in 1973 and its '' impose as a European leader. The manufacturer offers sailboats ranging from 5 meters to 18 meters in length for pleasure craft, and Dufour Grand Large sailboats, designed for cruising. During the 90s Dufour experienced financial complications, Dufour was bought by Bavaria Grand Soleil, but later the sailboat builder was again independent. In 1997, Dufour made a comeback, buying up the ACM high-end motorboat shipyard. At the end of 2011, the Andilly production site was closed. In June 2018, the yard was bought by Fountaine Pajot, a catamaran builder. The FROLSON team is proud to have and continue to insure the boats built by Dufour through the confidence of our policyholders and our network of partners around the world.
